No. 1Today's chart

Updated 2 to 3 times every trading day

Forty years at the charts. Today's is already marked.

Concrete, chart-based forecasts for gold, the major indices, crude oil and the euro. Written by Karsten Kagels, trading since 1986, and revised while the market moves: levels, scenarios and the point where each read would be wrong.

10 markets · no hype · no signals for sale

Gold · XAU/USD · 4H 3,352.10 +0.4% · updated 12 min ago
Marked at 14:20 CET: support 3,318 held overnight. While price stays above the zone, the path toward 3,368 remains the primary scenario. Full reasoning in the gold forecast.
No. 2The board

Ten markets, read like a desk.

Every row is a full written forecast: entry zones, support and resistance, and the level that would invalidate the read. Updated in the morning, at midday and after the US close, with TradingView charts.

No. 3How a forecast is made

The same method since 1986.

1

Chart technique first

Support, resistance, trendlines and formations, read the same way for four decades. No black-box indicators, no curve-fitted systems.

2

COT data as the filter

Weekly Commitments of Traders reports show what commercial hedgers are actually doing. Every chart scenario is checked against that positioning.

3

Revised while it trades

Forecasts are rewritten two to three times per trading day. When a level breaks, the read changes within hours, not next week.

1986 the first trade

Starts trading futures and foreign exchange

Deutsche Mark, gold and the index futures of the day. The charts have changed screens several times since; the formations have not changed at all.

1987 black monday

A crash in year one

The Dow loses more than a fifth in a single session. An early lesson that levels and positioning matter more than opinions.

2000 the dot-com top

Stories end, formations repeat

A decade that punished narratives and rewarded reading the tape. Chart technique stays the core of the method.

2008 the financial crisis

COT data earns its permanent place

Watching what commercial hedgers do, not what headlines say, becomes a fixed part of every forecast.

2015 on the record

kagels-trading.de goes live

Gold forecast · today, 14:20 CET

Bulls defend 3,318 and keep the road to 3,368 open

Overnight selling stalled exactly at the support band from early July, and the bounce came on rising volume. COT data still shows commercial hedgers reducing shorts, which keeps the bullish scenario alive above 3,318. Below it, the picture changes quickly: first 3,296, then the June shelf.

S&P 500 · today, 11:05

New highs on thin breadth: what the chart says

The index printed another record close, but fewer stocks are carrying the move. Trendline support now sits at 6,180; below it, the picture changes.
